Good shout my man,
TuPac had an unequalled talent.I’m pretty old school so ChuckD springs to mind,however rappers such as Masta Ace and even B real have some pretty intelligent lyrics.I feel it would be wrong to ignore Eminem I know he is hardcore mainstream and the darling of the Neds/Chavs but that isn’t his fault.Rap music for me has always been a social commentary on the world of today and as you say stuff that was wrong with the world in 96(or even 88) is still relevant.I don’t know how many speakers “Rebel Without a Pause” has cost me but it was worth it!

What’s up everybody! Judging the best hip hop lyricist is no easy task. One could judge a lyricist by two criterion (probably more): technique and content. Tupac was one of the rare rappers who was able to combine polititical, philisophical, and social commentaries with technical lyrical patterns and poetic imagery. He definitely was not a one note artist. Eminem has lyrical technique that is almost unparalleled. Though I really didn’t like him at first, T.I. has some great wordplay. Immortal Techique spits some intriguing revolutionary political commentary. I will also suggest checking out Lupe Fiasco… very good. I will definitely check out some of the Chuck D/Public Enemy stuff Blazin.

Yeah Lupe kills it, the guy has content, skills and more importantly makes REAL music.
Intruder Alert and American Terrorist are among my favourates. Cant believe The Source
gave him 4.5 mics for The Cool. In my opinion its a 5 mic album hands down and better than
a lot of the other stuff they seem to rate highly.
TI is one of those rappers who grows on you I think. I didnt start buying his stuff untill TI vs TIP
but Paper Trail is a sign that the man has grown.
But yeah I think Lupe will wear the crown once Jay-Z and Nas are done.
Lil Wayne is not as good as anybody mentioned so far, he definately isnt
the greatest and Im not sure why people seem to think so.
I guess media hype is a powerfull thing.

There are some legends in Hip Hop who have single handedly
elevated rap music and continued to set standards…
So in your opinion who is the Greatest of all Time and why?
(NOTE: Anyone who suggests Soulja Boy will be mercilessly ripped on lol)
My vote goes to 2pac as he had a passion and level of honesty that
is rarely seen in Hip Hop these days. As far as Im concerned his lyrics
are more relevnt than 90% of MCs today, which says a lot considering he
died in 1996.
